Current Contract - Article XXVI - Sabbaticals

1. A teacher having completed five consecutive years in the system will be eligible for up to one year sabbatical leave without reimbursement. No more than one teacher per school year will be eligible. No teacher would be eligible for a sabbatical more than once each ten years. These sabbaticals are for professional enrichment which will improve the educational quality of the school and must meet with the approval of the principal. Upon return from such sabbatical, a teacher will be considered as if he were actively employed by the Corporation during the leave and will be placed on the salary schedule at the level he would have achieved if he had not been absent.

2. The teacher must agree to teach at least two years upon his/her return to teaching duty. Request for sabbatical must be submitted in writing to the principal no later than December 1 and action must be taken on such request no later than April 1. The teacher will pay for all insurance premiums and pension benefits under group rates and continue to be part of the group insurance plan.
