Current Contract - Article XX - Insurance

1. The Corporation will pay the full premium cost for each member of a group life and accidental death and dismemberment plan. The amount of coverage in both the life plan and the A.D.&D. plan for each member is one and one-half times the member's basic annual salary as set forth in Appendix A on the Basic Lay Teachers' Salary Schedule and/or in sections (a) and (d) of Appendix A. Coverage will be included as outlined in the Archdiocesan Insurance Plan.

2. The Corporation will provide health insurance equivalent to the 1989 Archdiocesan Total Health Plan. The Corporation will contribute eighty (80g) percent of the premium for a family plan and ninety (90%) percent of the premium for an individual plan.

3. A teacher at his/her own election, may choose a Blue Cross/Blue Shield HMO Plan, or a Harvard Community HMO Plan. The Corporation will contribute eighty (80%) percent of the premium for a family plan and ninety (90%) percent of the premium for an individual plan.

4. a. It is agreed that the teachers employed on a 4/5ths basis or more are eligible for health insurance coverage under the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Boston Health Benefit Plan.

b. Teachers employed on a 3/5ths basis will be eligible for health insurance coverage under the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Boston Health Benefit Plan only in the situation where the availability for coverage of both Harvard Community Health Plan and HMO Blue is no longer provided. c. Part-time teachers employed on less than a 3/5ths basis are not eligible for insurance.

5. The Corporation will make available to members of the bargaining unit, participation in the Archdiocesan Dental Plan so long as the Archdiocese continues to maintain said Dental Plan. Teachers who choose to join must contribute one hundred percent (100%) of the premium cost.

6. The Employer will provide long-term disability insurance effective November 22, 1989, for all teachers after six months of disability at the rate of sixty (60%) percent salary at no cost to the employee.

7. The Archdiocese will establish, effective by March, a program intended to permit a participant's share of premiums under the group health plan to be paid on a preincome tax basis in accordance with rules under the Internal Revenue Code.

8. Teachers who are laid off as of September 1 and who, immediately prior to layoff, participated in the Group Health Plan, may elect to continue for a period up to twelve months, the medical (not dental) coverage in effect at the time of layoff. However, said teacher is responsible for the full premium payment for coverage.
