Current Contract - Article XVIII - Substitute Teachers

1. The collegial committee at each individual school will determine how an (in house) teacher becomes eligible to to be paid a fee for substituting, but in any event, the teacher will definitely be paid when substitute teaching prevents the teacher from receiving his/her 14% of preparation time in a cycle.

2. Teachers who perform the duty of substitute teacher will be compensated at the rate of $12.00 per class. Effective November 17, 1997, the rate will be increased to $15.00 and in (1999-2000) substitute teacher pay will be increased to $18.00 per class period.

3. No teacher will be required to obtain his/her own substitute. only the principal or Department Head of the school has the authority to assign substitutes and will make the appropriate notification for remuneration.

4. No teacher will perform long-term substitute duties under any conditions unless there are volunteers to do so.
